The Cult of Mac Blog and iPod Madness

Being a something of a technology geek, I have noticed the popularity
of the ubiquitous Apple iPod among copywriters, artists and web tech
people here at BKV Interactive.

Wanting to learn more, I started reading the cult of Mac blog at http://wiredblogs.tripod.com/cultofmac/

Check it out...
I am not a regular Mac user for my video editing
or graphics but they do make a nice mp3 player.

Title and Description Techniques for SEM

This month I'm doing contract copywriting, SEO and PPC work for an Atlanta
Advertising firm. The biggest learning experience for me has been with writing
titles and descriptions for Overture and Google pay per click ads.

Here are some notes and techniques for writing titles and descriptions.

Avoid terms like free on the PPC ads. Instead use benefits to the consumer like,
"We offer convenient day or evening classes, with financial aid for qualified students."

Use the keyword in the beginning of the title and the body.

For clients that are buying thousands of keywords, write titles and descriptions that fit into categories.

Using categories can make it easier to track trends in responses to keywords. Plus using a similar pattern or template for all titles and descriptions in one category is much faster than writing 2000 different descriptions for 2000 different keywords.

Porn Blogs Manipulate Google

Porn Blogs Manipulate Google

According to a couple of experienced bloggers, the purpose behind the cross-linking strategy is to artificially raise the Google rankings of the three porn sites.

John d'Addario, of Gawker Media says "It's clever. You have to give them that. And it's another example of porn folk being sort of ahead of the curve when it comes to technology and marketing."

SEO is Officially Cool: Wired Magazine Does SEO Article

Wired magazine's Adam L. Penenberg writes about the increasing profits
as a company's search position climbs to the third, second or first page of Google.

The article tells the story of Eastwood, a niche seller of automotive refurbishing tools. Search Engine Optimization of the Eastwood website yielded a dollar in sales for every 15 cents in advertising.

The Traffic Power Fiasco

The article also covers Traffic Power which was banned from Google, along with many
Traffic Power customers, for alleged shady practices.
Many Traffic Power clients have complained about being banned from Google in their posts to Webmaster and SEO websites. Google has finally cracked down on the link farms, hidden links and other marginal practices.

Wired magazine has often brought tech trends to a wider audience, often making them
mo' cool in the process. So I say SEO is now offically cool, after being exposed to the Wired audience.

SEO will become better known to business owners as the press and publicity continue to grow. The Wired article is a significant milestone in the race to publicize SEO.
